Thanks for stopping by to learn about me and why I started Clark Street Cookbook
So, here’s my story, the short version…
My career began as a photojournalist chasing stories across continents, documenting the world’s beauty and struggles. It was a different life, one where I stopped time through the lens of a camera. I loved every minute of it! Due to a hand injury, my career suddenly ended. I joined the business sector of spreadsheets and board meetings. It was a living and I was good at it, but I started to think about moving my career in a different direction. I was lost in what to do next. Then I met my life partner, Lar. He admired creativity and started encouraging me to return to photography. This went on for years. At one point, he went as far as gifting me a drone with a camera attachment, secretly hoping it would jumpstart my interest in photography again.
Then, there is cooking. For me, food isn’t just sustenance. The kitchen is where I can create and express myself in a way that words won’t capture. It is the unspoken love I have with my family, the bridge that connects generations at the kitchen table. My fondest memories live in the kitchen. They are a tapestry of love woven with tradition and memories that happen in the kitchen. It’s where my daughter and I make dinner while drinking great wines and eating charcuterie. Where my son-in-law asked to marry my daughter after Thanksgiving dinner. My granddaughter was accepted to college surrounded by her family’s cheers at the kitchen table. It’s my granddaughter’s college signing day…..the entire family showed up at the kitchen table dressed in her college colors for her big day. It is where Clark Street Cookbook was created.
My journey from photojournalist to food blogger may not have been conventional, but it is fueled by a love that transcends careers and circumstances. The tradition of breaking bread together on the good days and the bad ones is a testament to the enduring bond of family. It’s power just makes me smile.
