Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting

Equipment
- 1 stand mixer or hand mixer
- 1 silicone spatula
- plastic wrap
- 1 fine mesh strainer- use to sift confectioners sugar
Ingredients
- 1 - 8 oz package cold cream cheese
- 8 Tbsp butter, firm but not cold
- ½ teas cinnamon
- 3¾ cups sifted confectioners sugar
- ⅛ teas kosher salt
- ½ teas clear vanilla extract (dark vanilla can be substituted)
Tip
- add one teaspoon at a time if frosting consistency is not spreadable
Instructions
- Using a fine mesh strainer, sift confectioners sugar into a bowl. Set aside.
- In a bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a flat beater, beat the cream cheese, salt and cinnamon on medium-low speed until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Reduce the speed to low, and gradually add the sifted confectioners' sugar until completely incorporated
- Add the vanilla. Beat until combined and smooth. Do not overbeat. This will incorporate too much air in the frosting. It should be thick, like the consistency of ice cream.
