Roasted Corn On The Cob

Roasted Corn On The Cob

Towards the end of summer, corn on the cob is at its best! Here are step-by-step instructions on how to roast corn on the barbecue grill. It’s simple and easy, and it tastes great with any meal. I like it best with barbecue chicken or fried chicken.

Ingredients

6 Corn on the cob

Butter to taste

Sea salt

Soaking Corn on the Cob

I soak my corn on the cob in salted water for at least 30 to 2 hours depending on how much time I have. The salt softens the corn and adds flavor to the corn while it roasts. This step can be skipped if you don’t have the time, this recipe will still taste great. It won’t be as soft and flavorful.

Silicone Pastry Brush:These are among the most useful kitchen tools. I’m always pulling them out when I cook. They’re heat safe and clean up well.

Gallon Container. I couldn’t find single containers. This link has four with different sizesof large plastic containers . I use these for yeast breads and sourdough starter containers.

BBQ Grill. Here’s a BBQ grill that works best for me. I have had this grill for over 8 years and it’s still working great. BBQ grills are a personal preference and what you purchase depends on. your lifestyle, the size of your family or maybe you are only allowed electric grills where you live.

NOTE: Grilling with the husk is optional. The corn will taste the same either way. It’s really a personal preference. Some cooks like to leave the husks on because they’re easy to handle and  it looks great on a serving platter. If I’m serving young children, I pull off the husks and cut them in half before I roast them.

Instructions

Pull back husks without removing them.

Soak in salted water: Fill container with a half gallon of water and add salt. Stir until dissolved. Put corn into the water and soak for a minimum of 30 minutes. but no longer than two hours.

Before You Grill

  • When you’re ready to grill them, rub olive oil into the corn, but not the husks. Now, you’re all set to put them on the barbecue. As you cook the corn, sprinkle the husks with water so they do not burn too much. Turn the corn occasionally to roast them evenly on all sides. Do this until they start to change to a slightly darker yellow color. Some of the kernals should have char on them. This will take about 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Place the corn on a platter, brush melted butter. Sprinkle with sea salt to taste.
  • Enjoy!
